1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide to Us
Account information. When you register, we collect:
- An email address and password (if you sign up with email); or
- An identifier and email from Apple (if you sign up with Sign in with Apple, including the relayed email if you choose Apple's "Hide My Email" feature); or
- An identifier, name, profile picture URL, and email from Google (if you sign up with Google Sign-In).
Profile information. You may add the following to your profile:
- Display name
- Gender
- Profile photo
- Home court or general location
- DUPR ID (a third-party rating identifier issued by Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating, "DUPR")
- Other optional fields you choose to share
Date of birth. During account setup, we collect your date of birth in order to confirm you meet the 13+ minimum age requirement and to display your age (calculated from the date) on your profile. We store the full date but do not display the full date to other users.
Content you post or upload:
- Photos of pickleball courts, including reservation passes and bulletins
- Court Live Status reports (busyness updates and photos that we automatically blur to protect bystanders' faces)
- Edits and additions you propose to court information (Court FAQs, hours, fees, amenities, etc.)
- Messages you send in 1:1 and group conversations
- Sessions you create or join (start time, location, participants, deposit amount in credits)
- Peer ratings of other players
Communications. When you contact us at support@instapickleball.info, we keep the contents of the message and your contact information for as long as needed to respond and follow up.
Safety and moderation information. When you report another user, block another user, or are the subject of a moderation action, we process information needed to investigate and enforce our rules. This may include report reason, report details, reporter and reported user identifiers, internal staff-only resolution notes, warning messages, suspension or ban reasons, suspension end dates, revocation notes, and timestamps for review or enforcement activity.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Precise location — only when you grant "While Using the App" permission. We use your location to (a) show you nearby courts and players, (b) verify check-in at game sessions, and (c) center the map on your area. We do not collect background location.
- Device and technical information — device model, operating system version, app version, locale, time zone, and hardware identifiers issued by Apple or Google.
- Usage data — in-app actions, breadcrumbs leading up to a crash, screen views.
- Crash and performance data — stack traces, error messages, performance traces.
1.3 Information We Receive From Third Parties
- Apple and Google — when you use Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In, as described in Section 1.1.
- DUPR (Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating) — When you provide your DUPR ID, you authorize us to look up your publicly available DUPR singles and doubles ratings on dupr.com so we can display the verified rating on your profile. This lookup is performed manually by our team. We do not transmit your information to DUPR.
1.4 Information We Do Not Collect
We do not currently:
- Process payments or collect payment card information
- Send push notifications or collect push notification tokens
- Use third-party analytics or advertising trackers
- Use cookies (the mobile app does not run in a web browser)
If we add any of these in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy and obtain any required consent before doing so.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and manage your account
- Provide the core features of the Services: matchmaking, courts map, sessions, messaging, credits, court community edits, DUPR verification

- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service
We process your information only when we have a lawful basis to do so, including: performance of our contract with you, your consent (where required), our legitimate interests in operating and improving the Services, and compliance with law.
3. How We Share Your Information

3.3 For Legal and Safety Reasons
We may disclose information when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to:
- Comply with a law, regulation, court order, subpoena, or government request
- Enforce our Terms of Service
- Protect the rights, safety, or property of InstaSportsInfo, our users, or the public
- Investigate fraud, abuse, harassment, or security incidents
3.4 In Connection with a Business Transaction
If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, sale of assets, or bankruptcy, your information may be transferred to the successor entity. We will notify users of any change in ownership of personal information.
3.5 With Your Consent
We will share your information for purposes you direct or to which you consent.
3.6 Aggregated or De-Identified Information
We may share aggregated or de-identified information that cannot reasonably be used to identify you.
3.7 What We Do Not Do
We do not sell your personal information for money. We do not share your personal information with third parties for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not use your information to train third-party AI models.
4. Sign-In with Apple and Google
When you use Sign in with Apple, Apple controls what information is shared with us. You can choose to share your real email or use Apple's "Hide My Email" relay, which gives us a randomized address that forwards to your real one. If you later disable the relay in Apple ID settings, messages we send to it may stop reaching you.
When you use Google Sign-In, Google shares your Google profile basic information (name, email, profile picture URL) with us in accordance with the permissions you grant during sign-in.
You can review and revoke permissions at any time in your Apple ID settings (https://appleid.apple.com) or Google Account settings (https://myaccount.google.com).
5. Where Your Data Is Stored
InstaPickleball is operated from the United States. Our service providers (Supabase, Sentry, Expo) primarily store and process data in the United States.
If you access the Services from Canada, you understand and agree that your information will be transferred to and stored in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction.
6. How Long We Keep Your Information
We retain your personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.
When you delete your account:
- Your identifiable profile data (email, name, photos, DUPR ID, location) is removed from active use within a reasonable time.
- Content you posted in shared spaces — messages in group chats, comments on Court FAQs, Court edits that have been merged — remains visible to other participants because deleting it would alter their record of the conversation. This content is reattributed to a generic "Deleted User" placeholder.
- Audit logs (such as Court edit submissions, DUPR verification requests, user reports, account restriction history, revocation history, and credit transactions) are retained for accountability, safety, and dispute-resolution purposes for up to seven (7) years.
- Backups containing your data are overwritten in the ordinary course of our backup rotation, typically within 30 days.
If you want all data we control to be deleted, contact us at support@instapickleball.info. We will honor verifiable deletion requests subject to legal retention obligations.
7. Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information, including:
- TLS encryption for data in transit between your device and our servers
- Encrypted device storage (iOS Keychain, Android Keystore) for authentication tokens
- Database row-level access control at Supabase
- Restricted internal access on a need-to-know basis
No system is completely secure. We cannot guarantee that unauthorized parties will never defeat our security measures. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at support@instapickleball.info.
8. Your Privacy Choices
You can:
- Adjust device permissions (location, photos, camera) in your operating system settings.
- Edit your profile in-app at any time.
- Delete your account in-app, or by emailing support@instapickleball.info from your registered address.
- Opt out of marketing emails (if any are ever sent) by following the unsubscribe link. Transactional emails — security alerts, password resets, important service notices, and safety/moderation notices — cannot be turned off while your account is active.
- Unlink DUPR at any time through the in-app option or by emailing support.
9. Children Under 13
The Services are not intended for, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from, children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact support@instapickleball.info and we will delete it.
Users between 13 and the age of majority in their jurisdiction must have the permission of, and be supervised by, a parent or legal guardian to use the Services.
10. Privacy Rights for U.S. Residents
10.1 Your Rights
If you reside in a U.S. state that has enacted a comprehensive consumer privacy law — including California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Montana, Iowa, Indiana, Tennessee, Florida, Delaware, New Jersey, New Hampshire, Minnesota, and Maryland — you may have the following rights, subject to that law's specific terms and exceptions:
- Right to know / right to access — confirm whether we process your personal information and request a copy.
- Right to correct — ask us to correct inaccurate information.
- Right to delete — request that we delete your personal information.
- Right to data portability — receive a copy of your data in a portable format.
- Right to opt out of (a) the sale of personal information, (b) sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising, and (c) certain forms of profiling. As stated in Section 3.7, we do not sell or share for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not engage in such profiling.
- Right to non-discrimination — we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
To exercise these rights, email support@instapickleball.info from the email address on your account, or use the in-app account-deletion flow. We will verify your identity before responding. We will respond within the time required by your state's law (typically 45 days, with one possible extension if needed).
You may designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf, subject to verification.
10.2 Categories of Personal Information We Collected in the Past 12 Months
In the past 12 months, we have collected the categories of personal information described in Section 1: identifiers, contact information, account credentials, profile data, demographic information (date of birth, gender), user-generated content (photos, messages, posts), precise geolocation, device and usage information, and inferences drawn from the foregoing for the purpose of operating the Services.
We collected this information directly from you, automatically from your use of the Services, and from third parties (Apple, Google, and DUPR public lookup) as described in Section 1.3.
Sources, purposes for collection, recipients, and retention periods are described throughout Sections 1, 2, 3, and 6.
10.3 Sensitive Personal Information
We do not knowingly process personal information that is "sensitive" under U.S. state privacy laws (for example, racial origin, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, genetic data, or biometric identifiers used to identify a person), other than:
- Precise geolocation, which we collect only when you grant location permission and only to provide the core features of the Services. We do not use precise geolocation for advertising or for inferring sensitive characteristics about you.
You may limit our use of precise geolocation by revoking the location permission in your device settings.
10.4 California "Shine the Light"
California Civil Code §1798.83 permits California residents to request information about disclosures to third parties for direct marketing purposes. We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes.
11. Privacy Rights for Canadian Residents
If you are a resident of Canada, the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy laws may give you the following rights:
- Right of access to your personal information
- Right to correction of inaccurate information
- Right to withdraw consent, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice
- Right to file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (https://www.priv.gc.ca) or your provincial commissioner
Cross-border processing. By using the Services from Canada, you understand and consent to the transfer of your personal information to, and processing in, the United States. While in the United States, your information is subject to U.S. law and may be accessed by U.S. authorities under valid legal process.
To exercise your rights or ask questions, email support@instapickleball.info.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will:
- Update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this Policy.
- For material changes, post a notice in the app or on our website at least 7 days before the changes take effect, where required by law.
Your continued use of the Services after a change becomes effective means you accept the updated Policy.
